Taylor Swift has added another major milestone to her record-breaking career. Her latest single, “Patient Zero,” has debuted at No. 1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Streaming Songs chart, giving the superstar another historic week on the charts.

“Patient Zero” earned approximately 34.5 million chart-eligible streams in the United States during the week ending October 1, according to Billboard data cited by Complex. That total helped the song claim the top spot on the Streaming Songs chart dated October 10.

The performance gives Swift her 12th No. 1 on Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart, placing her in extremely rare company. According to Billboard, she is now one of only two artists to earn more than 10 No. 1 hits on that ranking, with Drake being the other.

The song’s opening-week streaming numbers are also among the strongest of the year. Its 34.5 million U.S. streams represent the largest single-week total since Drake’s “Janice STFU” and “Ran to Atlanta” posted even bigger numbers earlier in 2026.

“Patient Zero” is one of four bonus tracks added to The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore Deluxe Edition, an expanded version of Swift’s 2025 album The Life of a Showgirl. The deluxe edition arrived on September 25 and helped bring renewed attention to the original album while introducing several new songs.

The single also marks Swift’s second new No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart in 2026 and her third time reaching the top of that ranking during the year overall.

Earlier in 2026, “The Fate of Ophelia” returned to No. 1 after previously spending seven weeks at the top in 2025. Another track, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” reached No. 1 for one week in June.

The success of “Patient Zero” extends beyond streaming. The song also opened at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Swift’s 16th career chart-topper on the influential singles ranking.

That achievement further strengthens Swift’s position among the most commercially successful artists in Billboard history. Over the course of her career, she has consistently broken records through album sales, streaming activity, touring and chart performance, with “Patient Zero” becoming the latest addition to that list.

At the same time, Swift is also dominating the album charts. The Life of a Showgirl has returned to No. 1 on the Billboard 200, giving her the top position on both of Billboard’s major weekly charts simultaneously.

The album’s return to No. 1 comes following the release of the expanded Encore Deluxe Edition. The four additional songs helped push the project back to the top of the Billboard 200 and extend its commercial life more than a year after the original release.

For Swift, the success of “Patient Zero” arrives during another major period both professionally and personally. Complex noted that 2026 has already been an eventful year for the singer, including her marriage to Travis Kelce and the continued success of The Life of a Showgirl.

Despite already having one of the biggest catalogs in modern music, Swift continues adding new chart records. With “Patient Zero” becoming her 16th Hot 100 No. 1 and 12th Streaming Songs leader, the track represents another significant milestone in a career already filled with major Billboard achievements.

The simultaneous success of both the single and album also demonstrates Swift’s continued ability to generate huge streaming numbers and revive existing projects through expanded editions and new material.

With “Patient Zero” leading the Hot 100 and The Life of a Showgirl back on top of the Billboard 200, Taylor Swift has once again claimed the top position across both singles and albums in the same week.
