Kehlani has been forced to temporarily pause her current world tour after an unexpected illness sent the singer to the hospital and left her medically unable to perform two scheduled shows.

The Grammy-nominated singer shared the disappointing news with fans on Wednesday, August 26, revealing that the health issue developed quickly despite feeling normal during her scheduled days off. According to Kehlani, she became seriously ill overnight and experienced intense throat pain along with difficulty swallowing, eventually requiring medical attention.

Kehlani explained that she had been awake throughout the night dealing with the pain before going to the hospital. After being evaluated and later returning home, doctors informed her that she was not medically cleared to sing during her next two scheduled performances.

The sudden health setback affected Kehlani’s Wednesday, August 26 concert at the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden, New Jersey, as well as her Thursday, August 27 performance at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. Both dates were part of the North American leg of The Kehlani World Tour, which had recently been traveling through several cities along the East Coast.

While Kehlani confirmed that she would not be able to perform the two shows as originally planned, she said her team was already working to figure out the best solution for fans who purchased tickets. At the time of her announcement, however, she did not confirm whether the affected concerts would be officially postponed and rescheduled for later dates.

The singer made it clear that the decision to step away from the stage was difficult for her. Kehlani said having to miss performances was heartbreaking, especially because she makes an effort to take care of herself and maintain her health while dealing with the physical demands of touring. She acknowledged that even when an artist takes precautions, unexpected health problems can still happen.

Kehlani did not publicly reveal a specific diagnosis or provide details about what doctors discovered during her hospital visit. Her announcement instead focused on the immediate need to rest her voice and recover before attempting to return to the stage.

Despite the setback, Kehlani reassured fans that the interruption was expected to be temporary. She said the tour plans to resume in Virginia, where she is scheduled to perform on Saturday, August 29, at Allianz Amphitheater at Riverfront in Richmond.

The health scare arrives while Kehlani is in the middle of an active period in her career. The singer has continued building momentum with new music and live performances while taking The Kehlani World Tour across multiple markets. Touring at that level often requires artists to perform several nights a week while traveling between cities, making vocal health and physical recovery especially important.

For now, fans in New Jersey and Maryland will have to wait for additional information regarding the affected concerts. Kehlani’s team is expected to provide further updates regarding the status of those dates as the singer focuses on recovering.

If Kehlani is medically cleared to return as planned, her Richmond performance will mark the continuation of the tour following the brief interruption. The singer’s message suggests she is determined to get back on the road as soon as her health allows while making sure she does not risk causing further damage by returning to the stage too soon.

Kehlani’s situation also serves as another reminder of the physical demands that come with major concert tours. While fans see the performances on stage, artists often spend weeks or months traveling, rehearsing, performing and maintaining demanding schedules behind the scenes. For Kehlani, protecting her health has temporarily become the priority as she prepares to continue the tour once she is cleared to perform again.
