Gunna is already preparing his next chapter. Less than a year after releasing The Last Wun, the Atlanta rapper has revealed that his next album will be titled Splurge, and it could arrive as early as October if he feels the project is ready.
Gunna shared the update during a recent appearance on Forbes’ The Enterprise Zone, where he discussed his creative direction, career plans and the next level he wants to reach as an artist. Rather than simply continuing the sound of his previous work, he explained that Splurge is intended to represent an elevated version of himself creatively.
The rapper described the upcoming project as part of his effort to evolve into what he sees as an “upper-echelon” artist. While the album is clearly in development, Gunna emphasized that he does not want to rush the process simply to meet a release deadline.
Although October is currently a possibility, Gunna has not committed to an official date. He explained that the album could arrive next month if he feels completely satisfied with it, but he is willing to hold the project back if it still needs additional work. That approach suggests fans may get Splurge soon, but the final timing will depend on how Gunna feels about the finished product.
The announcement follows the release of The Last Wun in 2025. That album debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, earning approximately 80,000 equivalent album units in its opening week. The performance continued Gunna’s strong commercial run and added another Top 10 project to his catalog.
The Last Wun was also widely viewed as an important turning point in Gunna’s business career because it was expected to complete his contractual obligations with Young Thug’s YSL Records. That has created ongoing questions about whether Gunna will remain connected to YSL, move to another label or pursue a more independent path.
During the Forbes conversation, Gunna suggested that his label situation is still being worked out. He indicated that discussions are taking place regarding who will support his next phase professionally, but he did not announce a new record deal or confirm exactly what his relationship with YSL will look like moving forward.
Even without releasing a solo single so far in 2026, Gunna has remained active musically. He has appeared on collaborations including Shaboozey’s “High Noon” and Rich The Kid’s “Too Bad,” while continuing to expand his presence outside of music.
Gunna has also been developing his Wunna Run Club, an initiative built around fitness, running and community, while strengthening his partnership with Under Armour. Those ventures show the rapper expanding his brand beyond albums and touring as he enters the next stage of his career.
The title Splurge appears to fit that larger transformation. Gunna has spent recent years rebuilding momentum, expanding his business interests and maintaining his position as one of hip-hop’s most commercially successful melodic rappers. His upcoming album could offer a clearer look at how he plans to evolve both musically and personally.
For now, fans should not treat October as a confirmed release date. Gunna has made it clear that Splurge is coming, but he plans to release it only when he believes the album fully represents the next level he is trying to reach.
If the project is completed on schedule, Splurge could arrive as early as October, giving Gunna another major release less than a year after The Last Wun.
