Cardi B is already looking ahead to her next album. The Bronx rapper has confirmed that her third studio project is planned for 2027, telling fans she has no intention of repeating the long wait that separated her first two albums.
Cardi shared the update while speaking with The Breakfast Club during the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on Friday, September 18. During the conversation, she made it clear that a new album is officially in the works and that she plans to seriously focus on recording later this year.
According to Cardi, she plans to step away from distractions after her birthday in November so she can dedicate herself to the creative process. She said she intends to essentially isolate herself and focus on recording, suggesting that the next few months will be heavily centered around music.
When asked how far along she is with the project, Cardi admitted that the album is still in its very early stages. She said she currently has only about two songs completed, meaning much of the record still needs to be created. Even so, she sounded confident that the project will be finished in time for a 2027 release.
Cardi emphasized that fans will not have to wait another several years for her next full-length project. Her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, arrived in 2018, while her sophomore effort, Am I the Drama?, did not arrive until 2025, creating a seven-year gap between studio albums.
This time around, Cardi says she feels more motivated and confident about returning to the studio. During the interview, she explained that she has developed a new attitude toward creating music and feels ready to move forward without overthinking the process.
That increased confidence appears to be a major reason why she believes the third album can arrive much faster. Rather than spending years working through uncertainty and delays, Cardi seems focused on maintaining momentum and keeping fans supplied with new material.
The rapper has already remained active throughout 2026. In July, she released the single “AH HA,” giving listeners fresh solo material while continuing to promote herself beyond her 2025 album cycle. She also recently appeared as a guest on the posthumous Nipsey Hussle album PROLIFIC, which was created in collaboration with Bino Rideaux.
Those releases suggest Cardi is entering a more active period musically. While her third album does not yet have a title, tracklist, lead single, or official release date, her latest comments indicate she plans to make the project a priority beginning later this year.
Cardi also acknowledged that she spent much of the summer enjoying herself and being “outside,” but she appears ready to shift her attention back toward recording. She told The Breakfast Club that she is not much of a vacation person, making it easier for her to concentrate on work once she enters album mode.
The biggest takeaway for fans is that Cardi B does not want another extended break between albums. Although only two songs have reportedly been completed so far, she insisted that the third project will arrive next year and stressed that she is serious about meeting that timeline.
If everything goes according to plan, Cardi B’s third studio album will arrive sometime in 2027, continuing a new chapter in her career only two years after Am I the Drama?.
