Lady London - D-R-U-N-K (Live Session)
East Orange, NJ. Age 18. Lady London shares a spray of rhymes in a car seat and it takes off. Big time. Social media explosions. Journalists singing her praises. Co-signs from Nas and Busta. Summer of 2019 brings her first real one, “Woosah,” and an even more authoritative commitment to the game. This from a double major Howard student who also holds a masters degree. A journalist once asked her where new fans should start with her work and she said “Never,” a 2021 dreamscape and reminder that spittin’ is a variant of acting. Fall of 2022 delivers the ass-kicking that is “The Come Up.” She’s standing shoulder to shoulder with Jamila Gray and Rapsody. And when she jumped in with Ciara and Lola Brooke on “Girls Like Me” a few months after, the trio invented the term “fierce frolic.” When ‘S.O.U.L.’ arrived with “Yea Yea” last fall, LL’s stature was further solidified. Strong stuff. She recently had a free minute and we invited her into our studio. She delivered a couple fire performances, and the first to be shared is “D-R-U-N-K.” Look out, she arrives red hot.
