Hxllywxvd on Echoes of Truth

About this Interview

In Episode 14 of Echoes of Truth, we sit down with Hxllywxvd for a raw conversation about identity, culture, music, and growing up Latino in the DMV. Hxllywxvd speaks openly about the feeling of being caught between two worlds—not feeling “Latin enough” to be accepted as Latino, but not feeling “Black enough” to be accepted as Black. He explains how growing up in the DMV shaped his identity and how the people, culture, and environment around him influenced the way he sees himself today. Hollywood also takes us back to the story of MWA — Migos With Attitude, a DMV rap group that helped put Latino rappers and Latino culture on the local music scene and made a significant impact in the area. From identity and growing up in the DMV to music, culture, and the history behind MWA, Hollywood gives his perspective on a part of the DMV story that doesn't always get told. This is Growing Up Latino in the DMV.
